What PVC roofing is

PVC roofing is a single-ply membrane system. Sheets of PVC material are installed across a prepared roof deck and joined together with hot-air welded seams, creating one continuous surface across the roof area.

It is most often used on flat and low-slope roofs found on commercial buildings, as well as on porches, additions, and flat sections of residential properties.

Every roof is different. Deck condition, drainage, penetrations, and access all affect what is appropriate, which is why we ask for details before discussing an approach.

Assembly

    Roof Deck

    The structural surface is checked and prepared before any new roofing layers are placed.

  2. Layer 2

    Insulation Layer

    Insulation boards are laid to create a consistent substrate and provide thermal separation.

  3. Layer 3

    Cover Board

    A cover board can be added to protect insulation and support the membrane above it.

  4. Layer 4

    PVC Membrane

    The single-ply PVC sheet is placed and attached according to the chosen system layout.

  5. Layer 5

    Welded Seams

    Overlapping sheets are hot-air welded so the seams form a continuous surface.

  6. Layer 6

    Edges & Details

    Perimeter terminations, drains, curbs, and penetrations are flashed as part of the assembly.

Characteristics to consider

Built for low-slope roofs

PVC membranes are typically used on flat and low-slope areas where water needs to be moved to drains rather than shed quickly.

Welded, continuous seams

Heat-welded overlaps join sheets together instead of relying on adhesives or tapes at the seam line.

Reflective surface options

Light-colored membranes reflect more sunlight than dark surfaces, which many property owners prefer in Florida.

Detail-driven work

Most of the performance of a membrane roof comes from careful flashing at edges, drains, curbs, and penetrations.
